About Us

Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering at Pune was established in August 1983. Over the last 24 years, the college has made all-round progress and is now acclaimed as one of the best engineering colleges in this part of the country

Since its inception in 1983 till July 2000, the college was affiliated on a permanent basis to University of Pune. In July 2000, the Government of India, on the recommendations of the UGC and AICTE has included this college as a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth University. This college has thus the approval and recognition of the Government of India, AICTE, UGC and the Government of Maharashtra

As per the section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, the Deemed Universities have the same status as the State and Central statuary Universities. So the degrees and diplomas, which Bharati Vidyapeeth University awards to its students, have the same status and recognition as those awarded by the State and Central statuary Universities.

Civil Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering Department was established in the year 1987 with the permission of AICTE New Delhi with an intake capacity of 60 students. The college and the course were affiliated to the University of Pune. The University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India awarded the Deemed University status to the Institution and the Department in the year 2000 and now runs courses at B.Tech. (Electrical), M.Tech.(Power Systems) & Ph.D. levels.

The specious infrastructure, well equipped laboratories, meritorious students and academically qualified and enthusiastic faculty being the salient features of the Department.

More than 1500 students have acquired B.E. / B.Tech (Electrical) degree and most of them have attained high positions in the organizations of repute. Some students continued their studies abroad and some have their own business. This shows the versatility of the knowledge they acquired in the department.

The department, apart from routine academic Curriculum takes keen interest in several other academic activities like conducting seminars, workshops, conferences, expert lectures etc. and updates the practical aspects through industry -institute interaction. A 45 days in plant training is integral part of the syllabi which gives exposure of industrial environment to the final year students.

Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Department has dedicated and enthusiastic staff and most of them are well qualified and experienced. The faculty is focused towards inculcating technical creativity in the students along with theoretical as well as practical knowledge. The excellent facilities are available to achieve this aim. The department has well equipped laboratories, and has modern equipment related to Mechanical Engineering.In view to keep pace with the times, department has started the postgraduate course in CAD/CAM, which is unique in Pune region.

The Mechanical Engineering department conducts regulerly paper presentation, Robotic competition, Quiz and Design competition during the annual Bhartiyam function.

Computer Engineering

This field of Engineering reflects the technological dynamism present in today’s world. The Department runs one under-graduate programme viz. B.Tech(Computer), One postgraduate programme viz. M.Tech.(Computer). The Department has incorporated all the latest facilities for the benefit of the students. The Department has eleven well-equipped laboratories, with three servers. The latest software and hardware equipments are provided to the students.

The Department has specialized laboratories in Database Management System, Computer Graphics, Operating System and UNIX, Software Engineering and Network Lab. The Association of Computer Engineering Students (ACES) organizes an annual technical intercollegiate symposium ‘Genesis’, which includes various contests. Various prizes are offered to the participants. The syllabi of the Department are revised regularly so as to match the needs of the industry. Apart from giving thorough technical knowledge using the state-of-art technology, the students are taught communication skills and are given experience in working in groups on live projects

Chemical Engineering

Established in 1984, Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the oldest departments in Pune region. It is known for very valuable contribution in providing high caliber, outstanding professionals to the industry (capable of excellence in the disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas) and to the research and development establishments. Faculty of the department has constantly endeavored to improve academic standards and searched for better tools to impart advanced knowledge and best practices in Chemical Engineering to the students. For this reason, computer education and industrial training form an integral part of our studies. Our laboratories are not only well equipped for practical training of the students but also for research and development work. Ours is only Department in the Pune region that offers Post-Graduate and Ph.D. programme in Chemical Engineering.

The department also has consistently won accolades in extracurricular activities such as technical presentations in conferences and competitions, sports and cultural programs at state and national levels. Department also provides a forum (Chemical Engineering Students Association – CHESA) for students to interact with the industry by organizing seminars and presentations by eminent persons from the industry. We are also a part of IICHE-student’s chapter, through which we arrange various programmes to enhance the possibilities of such interactions

Health Services

All forms of health services are available at the College campus. The Campus has four hospitals, two of Allopathy, including a dental hospital, and one each of Ayurveda and Homeopathy. The main hospital of Allopathy is located near to the campus. This hospital has a multidisciplinary OPD and IPD with super specialty services. An 850 bedded attached tertiary care Bharati Hospital. It has well equipped and modern critical care facilities like the, ICU, NICU and PICU. It also has a very modern and state of the art operation theatre and all the diagnostic facilities like CT scan, MRI, mammography etc. are available. It has a 24 hours functional blood bank and pharmacy.

Hostel

We being an equal opportunity institution, provide hostel facility to our students on first come first serve basis. Each student is provided with a cot, a chair, a table, a tube light and a locker.Following are the facilities provided at hostel:

Banking Facility The University has its own “Bharati Sahakari Bank” which was established in 1971 by its founder Dr. Patangrao Kadam. The bank also provides ATM facility to its account holders. The In-campus banking provides the students with many facilities, so they don’t have to rush to another bank for any transactions. Also, it provides the loan facility to the faculty and student at subsidiary rate.

Communication System

College is using SMS (Short Message Service) facility for its students and staff members. This is a useful tool for the College to have an efficient communication system and stay in touch with Students and Staff members. Regular updates, information and alerts are being sent to students and staff members through SMS on regular basis. This facility is having excellent hierarchical structure. A class is having group leader behind every 12 students and a GFM. If the College authority wish to inform iny important information to students, a SMS is being sent to 12 group leaders. These group leader inturn inform to the memers of his / her class. Also there is a provision to send SMS to all students, GFMs, staff members, HODs.
